The programs we use will be tested with many common tasks and features so you can judge for yourself if one has any particular advantages.

The software comparison you see here was researched and written by MKDoc, who has a unique perspective on Adobe’s design.

The Process

Photo editing is an art, not a science, and different editing techniques can give contrasting results. To ensure that this comparison is both fair and accurate, an editor completed all editing tasks on every photo and piece of content.

All screenshots were taken using tools that were built into the respective applications. Some post-processing effects were added in Photoshop, and other effects were added in Affinity Designer. All content was edited with an ICC color profile set to sRGB.

All images were sharpened with the “Unsharp Mask” tool and levels adjusted in Affinity Designer or Photoshop. The applied adjustments were identical except for the processing method.

We used several different photo sizes in each program to ensure that the programs’ results were not skewed by larger or smaller file sizes. We used the same 200 megapixel (2048 x 1536) images in each program.

Saving Files

If you want to take a copy of your file that’s already been edited in Photoshop, you can save it back as a PSD (Photoshop Document) file.

This is very similar to an unedited copy of the file in the main program folder where you can open it later.

To Save a file, click the + (plus) sign and select Save As from the options menu.

For the Save as type, click the drop-down box and select the file format you want to use.

The Save As type menu also contains other options including Target Set, Overwrite, and Save as Web Page.

You can use Target Set to save your file directly onto a disc, network device or inside your Photoshop file system so you don’t have to browse to a different location each time you want to edit and save your work.

You can use Overwrite to create a copy of your file or edit it and save it as an existing file.

When you use the Save as Web Page option, your picture will be used to create a web page that also contains other photos. You can use this option to add new photos to your web page by using your own photos.

“It is not a matter of two siblings throwing a ball and playing with a dog or cats, it is not a matter of having a pet, the dog is just a tool that people use to fight for their own enjoyment.”

Animal Justice is now launching an education campaign to raise awareness of animal cruelty and warn that parents should be prepared to face up to potential legal consequences.
