Why is this static class instantiating?

When I’m working on a TypeScript class library, often the library will expose a class with a bunch of static members. It goes something like this:

{
public static getUserById(id: number): User;
public static getUsers(): User[];
public static getAll(): User[];
}

In particular, there is one large problem with this code: getUserById() and getUsers() are always instantiated, even though they are really only meant to be used once.
This seems to be a problem with the JSDoc type annotations:

* Gets the user for the given id.
*/
public static getUserById(id: number): User;

/**
* Returns an array of user objects.
*/
public static getUsers(): User[];

Of course, it would be nice to auto-instantiate the class whenever getUserById() or getUsers() is used.
So, what’s the best way to fix this problem?

A:

Typescript classes (which transpiles to classes in javascript) are auto instantiated whenever they are used, with no code annotations. This is the case even for static properties.
There are some typings though, notably with those static members on a class to make them be instantiated when they are used:

Great manifesto. I find myself doing a lot of what Aaron recommends as a
matter of good practice, even when my business doesn’t rely on self-
identifying as a “Lean Startup”.

Agreed. And I’d say that the real point of any Lean Startup Project is to
_change the way you run your company_. You’ll have a lot more traction/clicks
on your website than you’d otherwise have. You’ll be able to find out about
the needs of your market, and refine your product to be better suited to the
markets. This will probably save you months/years of engineering time in the
end, even though you’re running “Lean” (relatively speaking).

It also ties into the “journey” of a startup a lot more.

The content is high quality but I disagree with the conclusion of this
manifesto. It doesn’t provide any value in understanding the “whys” and
“hows” of a startup, which most of us here on HN have come to value. Aaron’s
own words saying “You should burn yourself and throw away your code and start
over” is much more valuable than this manifesto. I think of this manifesto
more as a marketing document to attract VC’s and angels.

That’s what I love most about the manifesto. I was very aware of this when
writing it, but it didn’t feel right to me to just chop away at the content,
and do the world a disservice. This is a short summary of an entire book.
There was a lot of overlap with the “bootstrap” book that I also wrote (which
also is an extremely readable summary of the Startup Playbook), but the
manifesto doesn’t focus on “getting to market” as much as it does “being
lean”.

I knew I had to really be certain about

Search for the app

When you search for the app, you will be prompted to sign in. It is best to sign in every time you search for an app.

How do I get updates?

Updates to the app are always available from the app itself.

How do I update to a new version of the app?

When the app is signed in, click on the Help > Check for Updates link in the app.

When the Update is available, you will receive an update notification.

How do I recover my password?

If you can’t remember your password, click on the Support > Password login menu. You will then see the option to recover your password.

How do I import my iTunes content?

You can now add your iTunes content to your SupportHub account.

iTunes content is automatically uploaded to your SupportHub account when it is synchronized to your iTunes library. You can also manually add content from iTunes to your account.

To add iTunes content, go to your SupportHub account from the app menu.
