I happened to pick up the game on the recommendation of my friend, Martin, who

used to play it and found it very enjoyable.
There’s a bit of a price attached, but if you already want it and don’t mind
paying a bit extra for the collector’s edition, it may still be worthwhile.
All in all, it’s a great JRPG and worth checking out.
It took me a while to get to this point. I’ve recently come back into play
Final Fantasy, and I’ve been eagerly looking for a good old-fashioned
introductory Final Fantasy game.
After listening to some of the drama surrounding Final Fantasy XIII and
reading some of the criticism levelled at it, I know better than to try and
guide myself into the Final Fantasy canon.
But a look at this game’s early reviews and the online word on the street
make it clear that it’s more than just a flashy graphical game.
So I’m jumping in, and I have a feeling this is going to be a good thing
for me.
Original Final Fantasy hasn’t been on my radar very often. I had a few
goofy hangers-on from long ago, but nothing I actually wanted to play.
But the market changed a bit after Final Fantasy Tactics was released,
and I figured I might as well pick up a few of these nice non-Heisei titles
(The main Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy VI-IX, are all part of this
series) on the way.
The game itself doesn’t do anything overly special, but it does a good job
of putting its players into the role of a fledgling world leader and making
sure they get treated to a number of entertaining adventure quests while
they do it.
The basic game is more or less Final Fantasy 6 or 7, if anything,
except in one regard.
The battle system is just plain old turn-based.
There’s plenty of room for players to create a custom party that’s going
