Hexters is a genre-bending space adventure game being developed at Indie Gentleman and Focus Home Interactive.
It is set in a hexagonal environment with the player assuming the role of a young, unnamed protagonist who is the last remaining survivor of a destroyed colony.
The game mixes retro visuals and sounds with modern music production techniques.
The long standing secret of the Hexer’s society is being revealed – one can use a combination of different colours to shape or transform their characters.
Their society is divided into four “Hexes”, each hex requires a specific colour of a specific elemental source, to access the power and utilize their abilities.
Cryotoma, a mysterious white Hex, is the richest and most powerful of all. To gain access to its power, the player must act as a decoy and play the role of a villain.
Möndinger, the yellow Hex, is the only place the player can grow their abilities. The player must risk being exposed to the different transformations and their consequences to grow their abilities as well.
Falcon, the red Hex, is the place where the player must hunt the enemies that threatens their home and people.
Wylam, the green Hex, is a home to a group of people whom live in a peaceful colony. The player must join the Wylam’s council to ensure the safety of the colony.
There is a balance between the Hexes, once the balance between the four is broken, the consequences are catastrophic! Players must make the right choices and act quickly to prevent this from happening.
Hexters features an original soundtrack by Markku Rankala. He worked on it mostly between January and May 2018, after focusing his career on a successful webcomic for quite some time.
Biography:
Markku Rankala is a Finnish video game composer and freelance sound designer. He is the composer for I Made a Game, a fictional a game project composer and sound designer that focuses on older games and retro music. Markku has a bachelor in musical composition and a master in software engineering, both from the Helsinki School of Economics. He started working on Hexters around 2016.
Markku created the audio for Orcs Must Die! 2 with Kris Blythe and Anomaly Warzone Earth with Daedalic. Furthermore, Markku composed the sound for the Flower’s Fall, the Level 14 DLC for How to Survive, Flower’s Fall: Hop
