SvnStat is written in Java, comes with a GUI, and runs fine in Windows Vista and Windows 2000 on i586 and AMD64 platforms. It has been tested to work on most Linux distributions, including Ubuntu 7.04, Feisty Fawn and Hardy Heron. On Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5, it has been tested to work with JDK 1.4.
SvnStat is designed for the Subversion team to be able to identify how well their repositories are being used.
SvnStat is able to run as a standalone application and as a plugin for [url removed, login to view] to generate the reports.
SvnStat is not supported by your repository. For example, if you’re using Visual Studio, it will not work against Visual Studio using Subversion repositories. In fact, you’ll probably not be able to use this application against any repositories that use different versions (as of now) of Subversion than you are using.
SvnStat supports multiple repositories. Only the latest version of the application for each given repository is used in the reports by default.
SvnStat is a set of command-line utilities that let you monitor your Subversion repository. By automatically generating database dumps and Perl scripts, you can generate statistics on your repository usage, transaction activity, SVN cmdline, etc.
The application works by scanning your repository directory structure, gathering information about the files, and analyzing it to make statistics and generate reports.
The application is very useful for a Subversion team, and particularly for developers. It will be very helpful when they are trying to determine whether or not a new release is impacting the repository as much as expected.

Although the interface is still unstable, you should be able to use it to generate reports similar to StatCvs.
The back-end is based on a simple database schema with one table.
SvnStat is designed to be used with SQL database servers.
The database table is quite small. However, the table is not likely to grow fast.

The Web Stats feature displays a set of reports by using the website statistics. These reports are easily generated by using AJAX with JavaScript.

Currently, svnstat-webstats is written in Java and uses the Hibernate ORM.
However, I am open to any suggestions on how to replace the current back-end.
SvnStat Feature:
SvnStat has a number of features.
￭ Repos/Repo/User/Group Sizes Report (Show how many lines in a file/folder in each repository/user/group)
￭ File/Folder Size/Time: The size and the time of a file/folder can be shown.
￭ File/Folder Number: The number of files/folders in a repository.
￭ Logs/Changes: The logs and the changes for the given file/folder can be shown.
￭ Time Range: The time range of a file/folder can be given.
￭ User/Group Statistics: The number of users/groups can be shown for the given directory.
Installation:
1. Download the latest release.
2. Unpack the archive.
3. Copy svnstat.jar (in the./lib folder) to the CLASSPATH.
4. Start Java from the command line with the following parameters:
java -classpath svnstat.jar com.subversion.utils.SvnStatWorker -u
The -u parameter specifies the URL of the Subversion repository.
Using svnstat.jar, it is possible to generate reports similar to StatCvs from Subversion (svn) logs.

￭ The core of the program is written in the C language (like the ones used by psutil), the high-level script language is written using Java 2 compatible SDK (J2SE 1.3/1.4).
￭ The program uses javax.servlet API to provide a web interface to the statistic reports.
￭ The reports are produced by a set of optimized C functions (statistics) and an optimized Java function (post functions to the server), it provides better performance and better scalability than the previous C version.
